At the meeting the other night several of us were discussing projects that we hope can be accomplished on our workday. Among them:
(1) New metal roof on the 200 yard range, the current roof is 20 years old and has some leaks.
(2) Spray paint the under-roof of the 200 yard range a semi-gloss white to brighten it up on the firing line.
Those are just two of the bigger projects along with our usual replacing backers, repairing berms, landscaping, etc.
Please list anything else that you would like to see. It doesn't mean it will get done, but it will give us an idea of projects the membership would like to see at the club.

I have always thought it would be cool to have some sky lights in the roof of the 200 yd range. Has this idea ever been brought up? The time to do it would be during a roofing project.

What types of tasks are available to those of us who are challenged in terms of 'home repair' capabilities? I have just joined the club and am happy to help out where possible but my talents are few!!

Thank you for asking about the April 10 workday. There are all sorts of jobs to do on work day. Volunteers clean up the grounds, rake ( ALOT), clean the club house, replace backers, etc. If you are not into building or repairing that is fine. There is always something that we need help with. Come on out, it is work but it is also a fun day and you get to meet different members. And everyone likes to talk!!!! Lunch will be provided in the clubhouse for all workers. You actually will feel good when the day is done, maybe tired, but a lot is accomplished! Thanks for asking

I know the clubhouse windows and blinds are very dirty and could use a good cleaning.
Always the front yard needs raking.
A couple of people could walk along the road and pick up trash, we own all the way to the Sprinkle-D Ave. curve. BE CAREFUL!

What general tools will we need? I'm bringing a rake, hammer, nail apron, and shovel. Any other suggestions?
As far as the skylights are concerned I think that would pose more problems, especially during tournaments. The changing light would cause one shooter to be in the shade and another to be in bright sun light. Both competing against each other. My older eyes shoot better in the sun light. One solution might be a fiberglass or similar transparent roofing to allow some light to enter the area below.

Those tools sound good Kevin.
Right now we plan on spray painting the underside of the range cover with a semi-gloss white paint. That should brighten it up somewhat. Mike Bevins has volunteered to do this and will probably need a few helpers. There will be a crew at work on the roof installing new metal roofing the same time as the painting will be going on below.
If any of you have chain saws those would be good to bring as brush along the ranges and roads needs to be cut back, and this is the best time of the year to do that.
Woolf is dropping off an end-loader the week before the work day and Craig Warren will have some time to get out and run it doing some berm work. On the work day we plan to have the loader building up the end berm of our new range higher. We will do this from the backside.
The club has a magnet pad with a handle, someone could use this to pick up all the steel cases, staples, and nails in front of the firing line.
The shooting benches are in need of a coat of paint, we have the paint and will supply brushes.

I have some large tarps if you want to protect the firing line cement from paint spray.
My chain saw has been imoperable for over a decade. I do have a tree trimmer. It's an extendable pole with a saw blade and a snipper. I'll bring that along.

For those planning to help Saturday on the Highpower Range, bring along some hearing protection. We will be running a saw to cut metal roof panels making LOTS of decibels.
See you Saturday... ;D
