If anybody is interested in shooting reduced loads in the .308 or .30/06. I've found Accurate-5744 powder to be extremely useful. I've used 20.0 to 26.0 grains in both calibers for velocities of around 1,600 to 1,800 fps with 150 to 168 grain bullets. Recoil is very mild and it is clean burning with great accuracy. One nice feature of this powder is it was made for reduced loads and is not position sensitive, in other words you don't need to use a filler to keep the powder up against the primer with a half filled case.
These reduced loads at this level will not function an M1 Garand, but will function my M1A. What I like them for is shooting my 1903/A3 Springfied in the 100 or 200 yard reduced course CMP matches. Anyway I found it to be a great powder for cast or jacketed reduced loads.
