I REALLY want to become a member of the KRGC as I just recently moved to the area and have heard great things about the club, but I've been told it is very difficult to get a membership. I'm 32 years old with 2 young children and I've been hunting and fishing since I was a kid. I really want to be a part of the club to expose my kids to the same kind of hunting/shooting experience I was able to be a part of through my father. I've completed the 2010 membership form, but is there anything else I can do to increase my chances or is it completely random?
I'll keep my fingers crossed!

jb, The short answer is yes, it is completely random. This is the first year we've implemented this system. In the past, we'd have people camping out at O-dark-thirty in mid-February, we'd reach capacity, and then have to turn people away for hours until orientation started. This system will hopefully smooth out the process and let new applicants know and plan ahead of time for orientation. Best of luck to you. Don

Good Luck! but remember, if you do not get in there are many events open to the public like skeet, trap, sporting clays, action pistol, high power.......Just check the calander.I think theres lots of people out there that dont realize that.

As the person in charge of the process, I can assure you that YES, the drawing will be done at random, by computer.

Thanks for the feedback people! I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope I get selected this year, but if not I will definately keep an eye on the calendar for those events that were mentioned.
Thanks again, Josh

It will be almost immediately after the business meeting in February...that gives me the maximum amount of time to contact the "winners".
