I'm very new to all this. I have a Ruger 10/22 which I have put a few rounds through and am looking for some help. How often should I clean my gun? Also, when cleaning, do I need to strip the gun down?
All help and advice appreciated.
Thanks.

G, You're going to get a wide range of responses here, from "clean it when it stops working" to "clean it every 100/50/10 rounds fired". For a 10/22, I'd lean toward the former, depending on what ammo you are using. How many rounds fired so far? Give me a call when you get a chance, and we can run some patches through it, see how it looks. No, you don't generally have to do a complete tear-down every time you clean it, although it is worthwhile to clean the magazines periodically. Don

I usually clean mine once in the winter. I do a complete disassemble and make sure it is operating smoothly.
The 10/22 is very dependable and will operate for some time between cleanings.
