I am about to pick up a 9mm ruger and wanted to know. is the cost to reload much different then buying rounds for it. I have not done any reloading in the past and would love to get into it but only if the cost is there.

Bullets are the biggest expense. I use Berry's plated at $85/1000. 2¢ for the primer, 1.5¢ for the powder. Call it $12/100 rounds. Go to lead and you can cut the bullet cost by a penny or so. I don't know, what does 9mm go for these days? Haven't bought any in several years.

It really puts it in perspective: commercial 9mm can still be had for about $10 for 50. The most regular place to find it is bulk packs at Walmart; right now they have Federal 100 packs for $19.99. So, the question becomes "Will I enjoy reloading enough, or will I shoot enough, that it's worth it to me to save $8.00/100 on 9mm?" By the way, Mike, can you still get primers for 2 cents? If so, what quantities do you have to buy for that? Schanz is charging $30/1000, and On Target $40. Don
