Hi everybody! My name is Wes Bodine! I've been a member of the club for about 20 years. I recently bought a Bushmaster A2 H/Bar and I thought I might try competing in High Power for the first time! If any of you fellas that compete in High Power have any suggestions for a newbie, I sure would appreciate hearing from you! I was wondering what I need to bring to a match such as the amount of ammo. In addition, I would like to hear from any members who reload for the AR-15 rifles and what loads powder/bullet combinations that you use and your thoughts on small base dies for the AR. Thanks alot fellas Wes

Hello Wes, I'm Dan Eddington the highpower match director. We would love to have you come out and join us Sunday. There are always a lot of friendly shooters willing to give a newbie a hand. You'll need a total of 55 rounds to shoot the match. Always a good idea to bring along at least 10 extra rounds. Bring a shooting mat if you have one or and old rug or blanket will do. A sling, glove for the sling hand. hearing and eye protection, if you don't have a shooting jacket a sweatshirt will do. The club has spotting scopes on stands you can use if you don't have one. That's about it. My favorite handload for my 1-8" twist barrel AR is 23.5 gr. H4895 behind a Sierra 69gr. HPBT bullet. I'm using R-P cases with Winchester primers. This load shoots great at 200 yards in several rifles that I've tried it in. AR's are easy to load for and I've never found the need for a small base die. Just full length resize and keep the cases trimmed below suggested max. length and you'll do good.

Thanks alot for the info Dan, I really appreciate it! By the way my 25m military sight-in target worked great the other day! Just so you can put a face to the name, i'm the fella in the little blue Ford ranger that talked to you at the gate last week ;D I'll try to make it this Sunday, but if not I will for sure be at the August match! Thanks again Wes!
