Looking for input from the board, as I am looking to purchase my first AR. What should I be looking for, just want to do some range shooting and plinking with it. Interested to hear what the board experience is with yours and what I should be looking for in an AR.

just about any AR thats in 223 that is at least mil spec will take any of the accessories out there so don't get tied up on forearms, butstocks, and other add-ons that you can change later. for the most part they are all pretty much the same.
I would reccomend a flat top to make adding optics easier. and a medium to heavy contour bbl so it doesn't heat up as fast and give vertical stringing of you groups. an adustable buttstock will make fitting the rifle to you easier as well as younger shooters.
I would get one in .223/5.56 nato so you can use a 22 conversion for cheaper plinking...
but get what you like and get lots of ammo and have a good time!
